A Program Bringing Data Science to Your Campus
The South Big Data Innovation Hub is excited to launch the 2018 DataUp Program. The Keeping Data Science Broad series identified the need to equip institutions with the tools to teach and engage with data science. In response, the Data Up program was created! The DataUp program will offer hands-on training for instructor teams at minority-serving institutions, community colleges, and 4-year liberal arts colleges to increase the capacity for data science instruction across the South.
Recipients of DataUp will receive one 2-day data science workshop hosted on their campus for 15 -30 people (workshop fees waived and instructors provided). Also, accepted team members will receive travel funding to attend an in-person train-the-trainers workshop in Atlanta, GA in November 2018. After the training, teams will be prepared to (and expected to) lead a workshop (in collaboration with the South Hub and the Carpentries) in their local region in 2019.
